Rev. Brian Johnson is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity.  Prior to his appointment as the Executive Minister of ABC-MI he was an Associate Pastor in Illinois for 5 years and Senior Pastor of Crossroads Community Church in Stockbridge, MI for over 15 years where he led a significant turnaround.  In recent years, Rev. Johnson also served as a Region Board member and a Contract Consultant for ABC-MI; which is where God began to birth in his heart a vision for seeing an entire region of churches realize a transformative experience that causes the Kingdom of God to be manifest.

My favorite bible verse is "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God". 2 Corinthians 5:21

I am married to Erika Johnson, a Benefits Administrator for the University of Michigan and worship leader for Crossroads Community Church.  Together, we have two daughters, Eliana and Elisabeth. In my spare time I enjoy investing in the lives of young men by coaching high school boys basketball in my community.

Danielle serves as the Director of Mission Support. She keeps records for Missions Support from our churches of ABCMI and ABCUSA and answers queries for our member churches regarding mission giving. She keeps our staff informed of scheduled events and directs phone calls to appropriate office staff. In addition, she leads the promotion of our four Annual Offerings.

2 Timothy 2:11-13 “Here is a trustworthy saying:  If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” I love these verses because it teaches the truth that we as believers have the assurance of eternal life. Timothy is also encouraging us to endure the hardships of life with the power of God and not on our own.

I was born and raised on the west side of Michigan, along with my brother and two sisters. I met my husband, Jason in college and we have been married now for over 15 years. We have two beautiful children, Paiton (2007) and Cody (2013). My husband is active duty in the Army and is currently serving here in Michigan. We have also lived in Southern California. Family is an integral part of my life and I love spending time with my family and friends. We love to be outdoors, cooking together, raising pigs and chickens on our little farm, and going on adventures together.

Director of Finance

As the Director of Finance, Jane manages the finances for the Region Office in East Lansing.

I was born in Denver, Colorado; raised in Lansing/East Lansing, Michigan. I met my husband, Tucker Gunneman at a Campus Life sponsored event called “Scream in the Dark” haunted house in 1978.  We have two children, two grandchildren, and two granddogs.  My daughter, Heather and her boyfriend Steve live in the Detroit area with Nilla and Fozzie (granddogs).  My son, Tyler and his wife, Kelsey live in Escondido, California with my grandchildren Willa and Titus.

In my spare time I like to read, do sewing projects, and acrylic paintings.

My favorite verse is, “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.  The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.  You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”  Isaiah 58:10-11

As Director of Operations and Executive Administration Shelly manages the workflow of the office and supports the various administrative needs of our Executive Minister.  She also manages the communication between the ABC-MI Region office and our churches and ministries.

“Don’t look out for only your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” Phil 2:4

Family has always been a central part of who I am. I was raised in Stockbridge, Michigan, along with my four sisters. When it came time to start a family, my husband and I (who is also a Stockbridge native) moved back to our hometown to be close to our family! We have three children, Carter (2013) and twins; Luke and Claire (2017). I can often be found gathered around friends and family, enjoying simple things such as food and laughter!

What I enjoy most about my position at American Bapist Churches of Michigan is having the platform to help all of our ABC-MI churches to stay informed, engaged and excited about what it means to be an American Baptist!
